That feature made an MX850 a speedy pup to program.
I've spent a bunch of time dragging LCD buttons around while I wait for my first 980 to arrive, and I don't want to do that on every 980 I do - a one hour setup turns into 3 or more...
Dale, any chance that "key" feature is forthcoming??

There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions. |

I know the engineers are looking at it, but I don't know the details behind this change.
In the mean time, remember that you can still Import a device from any existing RCF file, so you certainly don't have to redo all your work from previous jobs.
If you like to keep a library of separate files handy, each containing a single device, I suggest creating a blank RCF, then Import the desired device into that file. Save it with the appropriate device name and, viola! you have a standalone file for that device from which you can Import at any time.
So in essence, this is a case where the fuctionality still exists, but it works slightly differently from previous editors.
Best regards, Dale

Importing devices is the same as the MX-3000 and essentially the same as the MX-950, it's just under the "File" pulldown instead of doing a right-click (which admittedly is easier). Unfortunately, you can't currently export a device, you just have to create individual device RCF files and save them.

So im programing one now for a client. And i couldnt figure out how to move buttons between pages. So im scaning through "file-edit--etc... " and i get to Help. Theres a programing manual. So i scan through it. It says Go to "Page View" and then hold down "shift+alt" then click drag you buttons.
This works like a charm.
But as i went through the programming manual loading aTemplate they had all kinds
Alpha v1 samples The one that is in my editor then
Alpha v3 bad blood football
gloss gold mountain parchment
relax seaside
space port text only The other one in my editor woodwook Zen.
My question is How do i get these Templates? they look like the ones from MX3000? Can I import them?
Thanks When are these templates going to be avaiable for download?

Testing is complete, so it looks like we should be able to get the graphics expander on URC Control Room within a few days.

Best regards, Dale "Testing is complete..." Perhaps those words should have been reserved for the time when URC truly completed their engineering obligation. Since URC had emailed us regarding a special on the MX-980 and a MRF-400, we figured why not take advantage. Yet it would have been nice to know that the developers had left out the capabilty of importing devices from the MX-980 into the MRC-400...oops! Also, the lack of readme's on this device was another shortcoming. Guess I've got a little bit of remote junky in me and couldn't resist a deal. Been a sucker for many a training promotion. I've been using URC's product back since the 9000 was the top of the line...wasn't Eric Johnson in diapers back then? All in all, I think this remote was rushed to market. Had I not been thinking bargain, I would have purchased an RTI T2-C. Their graphical integration, features and programming are much more efficient. Sure, a little more expensive than a 980, but in this price range, and the need to have a controller doing sensors and 232, the price differences are really petty. No offense Dale, I'll still be using MX-900's and perhaps the occasional MX-950. Meanwhile, this MX-980 sits in its cradle, resting peacefully awaiting some friendly logic. A MX-900 took it's place and is doing fine...thanks for asking. Thanks Remote Central --- ~

Guess we all have our shortcomings. Happy Holidays!!

How do you change a button with an existing label and code without replacing the label and code? For example, to go from a rectangle style button to a oval style.

Bricor I have'nt played with the program very much yet, but earlier today I was messing with it and it seems when you drag the new button directly over the old one the label and the IR code stay. Hope this help's. Andrew

Weird, when I do that, it replaces the button.

Try pressing "Shift" as you move the button.

Highlight the button - on the right hand side you should see "image" section and under that "Normal" with four icons. The first one (and arrow pointing down) is for import. If you select this you can change the button graphic without affecting the IR code/scripting

You can also copy a button that has the graphic that you like, then use Paste Special to paste in only the button image onto the target button.
Best regards, Dale
