Lyndel is correct. Sony control S is a baseband protocol (the IR envelope without the carrier). Xantech makes a device that does what you want. It accepts the same signal as an emitter and puts out proper control S. It is a small package 1x2x3 (inches) and is easy to place behind your sony device or hide it anywhere. Xantech makes several different forms of this little device to connect it's IR network to different components without the use of emitters. The part number of the device you want is 794-10. An emitter is much cheaper!
