Yes, that's exactly what's happening. Standard IR emitters are fine in conjunction with the RS232 cables in place. When using minijack 3.5mm direct cables, they don't function.
I've e-mailed Pronto support, but could someone with a bit more weight than me report the problem.
This explains why people have had to use the IR emitters from the RFX9600 into 3rd party receivers then onto the minijack ports of devices.
Glad to have bottomed this one out. It really was driving me crazy!
