Tom, contact me via email and I will send you something much better. It is a PC program that will either generate all the codes for the edge or transmit them to the Edge. It is my test routine for the Edge that I developed while doing Beta testing for the unit on behalf of ABT. I plan to release it to the general Edge public but have been busy integrating a Cary Ciema 11A into the system with the Edge. How do you like the Edge? I control the Edge over IR from my theater control system and I have found their wired IR to be very reliable.
Lyndel, I am not surprised about the CRC in the Sony RS232 protocol. I do not think Sony likes Crestron and does not make it easy for them. I have come across several RS232 protocols that include some sort of a checksum or CRC. I personally think a CRC is overkill and a Checksum would be good enough. One common practice is to have the byte string including the checksum sum to 0. I believe DVDO did this on several of their Scalers for RS232 control.
