I have recently recieved an RC9800i as a gift. I currently live in the UK but will be moving to Canada soon.
When I turned on the remote the first option was to choose the region, the choices were North America and Europe, North America was greyed out and my only choice was Europe so I chose it thinking there must be a way to change this later either in the settings or via a firmware upgrade.
As yet I cannot find a way to change this setting or if it has any affect at all, I was slightly worried by the fact I want to use the EPG but to date I have not been able to get it connected even though it is connected perfectly to the wireless LAN and I can ping it from another pc. I was thinking that the subscription service might look at my ip range and deny a european ip connecting to the US EPG server.
To put it in basic terms:
1. can i change the unit to be a North American unit? 2. Does it really affect me when the unit is in North America? 3. Does the EPG server care about the location of the unit?
