This message was already posted on the RC9800i forum, but I cannot resist the urge to share with you.

This post was following this declaration of a Philips Tech, on the "Re: Viewsonic N4060W" thread, from RC9800i section of the stremium cafe forum created by Philips

"Blblabla cannot solve problem blablablabla ....I added the issue on the to-be-solved list, but as we are still evaluating feedback from the market, an update of the software will not come on short term. "

The rest is my answer.

"still evaluating feedback from the market" ???

You must be kidding, right ? The device has been on the market for at least one year.
It is still full of bugs ; the IR database is very incomplete and not upgradable ; the device is not nearly what it was promised to be (Upnp is not exploited, lots of upnp devices not compliant, impossibility to play songs directly from the computer to the receiver...).

And last but not least, very HUGE conception errors has been made (user buttons misplaced, unability to move, rename or erase useless buttons, obligation to scroll lots and lots of screens to get to the right button and so on...).

And Philips has made absolutly no proof of interest whatsoever, proving once again that it mistakes customers for paying beta-testers. Only one firmware update has be released, and NO ONE, even Philips tech support team, know what it does. I know what it DOESN'T DO, though.

Owning the device myself, I can honestly say that this remote is currently useless, and it is a shame, as the device has all the potential to be a killer remote.

Actually, I was so fed up with it that I bought a little Logitech Harmony which is WAY better, with a IR base constantly upgraded, a very well-thought ergonomy and a price 5 times cheaper. I could not be more disappointed with Philips, and very much hope that a new firmware update will unleash the real potential of this very expensive, very useless beautiful remote. And a PC managing software would be great, too, if only to backup the remote files.

PS : sorry for my english skills. You will have guessed that it is not my native language.
