Strangely enough, I find that the charging indicator on screen goes even if the ac adaptor isn't plugged into the wall - I've been caught a few times by the bloody cats knocking cords out of the wall.

If the blue lights aren't on, Dave is right; I would guess the ac adaptor is dead. Go buy a cheap generic one that matches up.
