Tried the long press trick, didn't work, on ANY of the
Pronto's. I'ved used it most often on 6000's and 7000
series. You can also use a small delay of up to .3 and
it will still turn on. Fewer than 3 ON commands and it
won't turn on. OFF commands always work with one shot.
I'm not a hex guru, but understand the principal. Duration
of the ON command makes no difference on an NG remote.
FWIW, this is the command I've used for years, came from
an old discrete ccf posted here. Works great.

If you can make a better one out of it, I'll be glad to
test it out. This works on almost every Panasonic and
Toshiba plasma I've run across, including my 6 year old
model, so it would help out many others here.
Thanks
Dan
Dan,
Will try that tonight an get back w/ the result. I hope it works since my set is newer than yours 6 year old.
I'm also having another trouble w/ panasonic discrete code set 2 for DVD recorder. It's is causing an error in the recorder. When the recorder i rec something in the HD and a discrete is sent the recorder jams.
