I'm new to Remote Central. I just spent the last several hours reading through the forums looking for info on the above mentioned remotes. Still can't make up my mind on which one to get.
Here are my requirements.
My Tivo is the center of my home entertainment universe! As other Tivo users have commented, Tactile buttons are essential for the perfect Tivo experience. While watching TV my thumb is always on the fast forward button to get through those annoying commercials.
First off I want to make absolutely sure that any one of these remotes can be programmed to use the 4 button wheel; is there a 5th in the center? to work as the fast forward, rewind, play and slo-mo. Screw the menu navigation, it's accessed infrequently so these options should be on the LCD. Of course this my be exactly how these remotes are set-up, I don't know, haven't bought one yet.
This is the rest of my stuff:
JVC receiver
JVC DVD
JVC Super VHS
JVC 200 CD changer
JVC 32" TV which my very soon be a Toshiba 50" projection HDTV (which will defentally throw off my JVC Compu-link system that works oh-so-nice)
And of course the all important, extra hard-drive enhanced TIVO!!!
OK so enough background BS here's my dilemma,
I can get a TSU500 for about $175 shipping included! But judging by the negitive feedback that i've read, there is nearly as much negitive as there is positive, I'm not sure if the RC3200 would be a better choice. The RC3200 is however nearly twice as expensive as the ProntoNeo. So is it worth it? Will ebay ever have one? Will the price go down in six months? And what about the RC5200, I love the idea of one day getting that RF extender so I can control my outdoor speakers, (hooked up as a sub room on my receiver) from my back porch.
So do I get the Pronto Neo now, at a pretty reasonable price, or do I wait a while to see if the price comes down, or god forbid, Ebay has one of the new Marantz models for auction. Of course Ebay isn't the deal of the century that it used to be anyway.
I guess I need the wisdom of someone who is familiar with all 3 of these remotes. Price "IS" an issue because I'm spending a bundle on this big screen TV, otherwise I'd get the RC5200.
Somebody help......My brain hurts......!!!!
Thanks
