I'm new to Remote Central. I just spent the last several hours reading through the forums looking for info on the above mentioned remotes. Still can't make up my mind on which one to get.
Here are my requirements.
My Tivo is the center of my home entertainment universe! As other Tivo users have commented, Tactile buttons are essential for the perfect Tivo experience. While watching TV my thumb is always on the fast forward button to get through those annoying commercials.
First off I want to make absolutely sure that any one of these remotes can be programmed to use the 4 button wheel; is there a 5th in the center? to work as the fast forward, rewind, play and slo-mo. Screw the menu navigation, it's accessed infrequently so these options should be on the LCD. Of course this my be exactly how these remotes are set-up, I don't know, haven't bought one yet.
This is the rest of my stuff:
JVC receiver
JVC DVD
JVC Super VHS
JVC 200 CD changer
JVC 32" TV which my very soon be a Toshiba 50" projection HDTV (which will defentally throw off my JVC Compu-link system that works oh-so-nice)
And of course the all important, extra hard-drive enhanced TIVO!!!
OK so enough background BS here's my dilemma,
I can get a TSU500 for about $175 shipping included! But judging by the negitive feedback that i've read, there is nearly as much negitive as there is positive, I'm not sure if the RC3200 would be a better choice. The RC3200 is however nearly twice as expensive as the ProntoNeo. So is it worth it? Will ebay ever have one? Will the price go down in six months? And what about the RC5200, I love the idea of one day getting that RF extender so I can control my outdoor speakers, (hooked up as a sub room on my receiver) from my back porch.
So do I get the Pronto Neo now, at a pretty reasonable price, or do I wait a while to see if the price comes down, or god forbid, Ebay has one of the new Marantz models for auction. Of course Ebay isn't the deal of the century that it used to be anyway.
I guess I need the wisdom of someone who is familiar with all 3 of these remotes. Price "IS" an issue because I'm spending a bundle on this big screen TV, otherwise I'd get the RC5200.
Somebody help......My brain hurts......!!!!
Thanks

I am in the same boat at Archangel. I am trying to decide between some remotes...
1. ProntoNeo
2. Pronto 2000
3. MX-1000
4. Sony 2100

Dilemma: I like the looks and hard buttons of the Pronto Neo, as well as the price. I want to know if it would be a good choice for my system.

System:
Harman Kardon AVR510
Harman Kardon DVD-50
Panasonic HD 47X49 TV
Panasonic VCR (old, needs to be replaced)
Pioneer/Scientific Atlantica Digital Cable Box

Questions: Will all the above remotes control my devices? What would you recommend?

I'm not familiar with TIVO, but I'm sure one way or another you can duplicate every function of the TIVO on any of these remotes. They all have plenty of hard buttons including a customizable cursor pad - it can learn any functions just like any soft button(s). If you need or like the extra screen real estate the 5200 offers, then I would bite the bullet and get it. If screen area is not so important, then the others are every bit as functional and a better value. I don't know why the Marantz version is so much more expensive than the NEO, but it does offer a couple extras. These being two extra hard buttons (although one is limited to only a few functions), and when used with a Marantz SR8200 or 9200 receiver, it also provides a very nice feature of two-way communication. It will give you station, volume, input information right on the remote - pretty darn cool! It doesn't have a code database for anything other than Marantz equipment, but I find the Philips code database is next to worthless if you want to duplicate all or most of your functions and requires you to learn your existing remotes anyway. If you have Marantz stuff, then the codes built in on the 3200 are very worthwhile....they work! You get the 3200 with the SR8200 and 9200, so there really is no decision on what remote if you buy these receivers. If you have non-Marantz stuff, I would get the NEO over the 3200. If you have Marantz stuff, then you may want to consider the 3200, but you still can't go wrong with the NEO. One note I found in limited experience is that the NEO seemed to have trouble learning some functions (takes several tries to learn a specific function). I did not have any trouble learning functions on the 3200, but to be fair, I was learning different remotes.

Hope this helps some...

I'm begining to think that I need to just get the Neo, or save my pennies and get the RC5200. The RC3200 just doesn't seem to have that much of an advantage over the Neo, just twice the price. If I didn't already have a pretty good reciever I might have considered getting a Marantz SR8200 or 9200. Then again they are probably around a grand a piece? Thanks for the info. I seem to be narrowing things down a bit. I'm also considering the RC5000i. I can get a really good price on one and I've read that the hard buttons are more programable than the Philips counterpart.
