Nice try Jon. Greeat program but I tried all 256 codes and none of them worked. Although one of them did completely reset my VCR!!! It turned the thing off, reset the clock and calender etc! Not a big deal, means I just need to set the clock again but I don't think I can really use that code as a discrete off.

Thanks for your help anyway. Any other suggestions or is my VCR a TOAD???
