Back before I upgraded to a color model, I was always a bit disappointed in the display of my TS 1000. The greenish screen is just not very clear IMHO. Real bad, unless in low light. Although I've never seen a Chad, I suspect that it's the same. It's pretty near impossible to select a contrast setting that displays all four shades. Either the dark grey looks black, or the light grey looks white. Also, as you're using it, the unit "warms up" and the contrast setting will drift.

I also tried the screen protectors, but it just made readability worse as far as I was concerned.

Despite all this, it's still a great remote, and you won't find anything better than a Pronto at it's price point. Again, just MHO.
