Thanks for the reply. Regarding a HDD recorder, I would like to have one, but I don't want or need the bells and whistles that go with TiVo. Would you have a recommendation for a standalone unit that doesn't require a subscription? Barring that, is there any way to make TiVo work without the phone line and subscription? Thanks again.
