CBS is probably most often the pick. Depends on the station, of course. But so far CBS has not done multicasting, so they usually have full bandwidth, giving a great picture. And they do a good job in production.
But multicasting is coming, that may be changing unfortunately.
Using football as the guide, CBS or ESPN is usually the best for me. CBS has faded a bit, not sure why. And ESPN is at the mercy of DirecTV, but is usually good on football night. I look for detail on officials' jerseys to see how good the PQ is. It's tougher to use TV shows for this, IMO, because there is more processing. Some scenes have been softened or altered intentionally. Live sports gives a better view of their capabilities.
