Ah, I just noticed, Ontario!
I think DirecTV is licensed only for use in the United States. You need to reside in the states, order one, get it installed and turned on, then move out and smuggle it into Canada. I know you wouldn't think this is smuggling, but if you would hesitate to declare it at the border, you are probably smuggling. After all, downloading songs isn't really stealing, right?
If you ever connected it to a phone line, DirecTV would likely shut it off. If you ever have any problem with the receiver, you will have to deal with DirecTV from a US address.
