I know this seems obvious, but the X-10 lamp modules must have your lighting ciruit ON before they can receive x10 command and work. Were the lights ON at the wall switch? Secondly, not all screw in lamp modules have DIM ability. Be sure that the modules you purchased do. Third, double check that the HOUSE CODE on the modules and on the IR543 match. An IR543 set to "A" can't control lamp modules set to "B" for example. Those are the basics, and all simple things that I've overlooked at least once. Hope you're getting it figure out.
