Okay here goes..... I have 6 recessed lighting fixtures and they are all on the same circut, with 2, 3 way switches..... I recently purchased 6 of the screw in the socket type of X10 controllers, sl575. I want to control the 4 at the front of the room and then the 2 in the back of the room. Dim the front 4 to off and dim the rear 2 to a low level. Anyway I don't seem to be able to get them to work at all.... Can I do this???? Is my problem related to the Bridge refered to in the forum????? I have all of the addresses set correctly and I am using a ir543 to control them. Thanks ahead of time.

Foth,

If you can’t get them to work at all, you are probably having a “bridge” problem. Try plugging the IR543 into another plug on the other side of the room or in a different room. This may help since a different plug may be on the same side of your circuit box. You could turn your cloths dryer on and try it. This will sometimes connect the phases of your electrical system through your dryer. If it works, you could leave your dryer on all the time, connect the phases of your electrical system or use another plug that works with the lights (if you can find one). You may also be having a noise problem. If you have any surge protectors, unplug them then try the lights. I know for a fact that Panamax surge protectors are bad for stopping X-10 signals and require a plug in filter to allow the X-10 to work. If it still doesn’t work, you may be having an X-10 IR code problem. I have seen some instances where the IR543/pronto combo will only send out unit codes but no command (on/off/dim/bright). Try using the X-10 direct on/off codes or double the on and off commands in the macro.

Foth,

I know this seems obvious, but the X-10 lamp modules must have your lighting ciruit ON before they can receive x10 command and work. Were the lights ON at the wall switch? Secondly, not all screw in lamp modules have DIM ability. Be sure that the modules you purchased do. Third, double check that the HOUSE CODE on the modules and on the IR543 match. An IR543 set to "A" can't control lamp modules set to "B" for example. Those are the basics, and all simple things that I've overlooked at least once. Hope you're getting it figure out.

Dave
