The lamp module LM465 plugs into an outlet, and the lamp would plug into the module. So the other half of the receptacle would be free to use for something else (i.e. not X-10 affected).
Just make sure the lamp module is only used with lamps (300W or less). If you are going to plug in something like a crock pot or a small fan, make sure you use the appliance module. They look very similar, but the appliance module does not have dimming capabilities and will handle up to 500W.
