There are a couple of advanced ways to operate the door lock you have and other X-10 functions as well. You could modify the door lock remote and have it activated by an X-10 module. This would require you to solder wires onto the switch inside the remote simulating a button press. You could have a X-10 contact closure connecting the wires, which would then activate the door. If the remote has 2 buttons then you would need one for lock and one for unlock. You could use a RF receiver to receive the signal from a Slimfire remote to lock and unlock the door. You would then have an extra set of X-10 buttons for anything you wanted. You would then be set for using motion sensors and any other X-10 RF transmitting devices if you wanted. (Lights on with motion, 16 channel remote in the bedroom…) This would probably cost around 60.00 or so to get started. The operation would be delayed by about a second.
