Couple of questions:
What is the brand of the lock? I know you said Black and Decker but does someone else make it?

Does it say it is Home Link compatible?

If the unit is Home Link compatible then it will work with X-10. I would assume that all you need a RF transceiver to receive the remotes signal. You could then use X-10 module in your home. Check out this website and see if this looks similar: http://homelink.jci.com/

After a while of searching for you, I found this site:

[Link: nokey.com]

It leads me to believe that the garage button will work with the Genie Intellicode systems and that the light button is for the light on the garage door opener. I hate to break it to you but you should have got a Homelink compatible system if you wanted to do X-10. One thing you may look into is a security system with X-10. If you have a security system, it may have the X-10 capabilities already. You could then get a remote that would take care of the garage, X-10 and the door (with an interface or two).

There are a couple of advanced ways to operate the door lock you have and other X-10 functions as well. You could modify the door lock remote and have it activated by an X-10 module. This would require you to solder wires onto the switch inside the remote simulating a button press. You could have a X-10 contact closure connecting the wires, which would then activate the door. If the remote has 2 buttons then you would need one for lock and one for unlock. You could use a RF receiver to receive the signal from a Slimfire remote to lock and unlock the door. You would then have an extra set of X-10 buttons for anything you wanted. You would then be set for using motion sensors and any other X-10 RF transmitting devices if you wanted. (Lights on with motion, 16 channel remote in the bedroom…) This would probably cost around 60.00 or so to get started. The operation would be delayed by about a second.

Just another idea!

Chris,

I just built a new house, and have not yet put in my garage door opener, but I was going to buy a Genie Intellicode system. I have a lot of x-10 devices, and did a lot of pre-wiring. Were you saying that the Genie Intellicode is a bad choice relative to a Homelink compatible system, or were you speaking to the issue of the deadbolt lock? I really would appreciate any feedback that you have concerning garage door openers and compatibility to x-10.

THanks.
