After a while of searching for you, I found this site:

It leads me to believe that the garage button will work with the Genie Intellicode systems and that the light button is for the light on the garage door opener. I hate to break it to you but you should have got a Homelink compatible system if you wanted to do X-10. One thing you may look into is a security system with X-10. If you have a security system, it may have the X-10 capabilities already. You could then get a remote that would take care of the garage, X-10 and the door (with an interface or two).
