you will not have to but a seperate remote if you use x10. you will need an IR543 to convert the IR from your remote to the signals that will control your x10 switches. your remote has the x10 codes built into it. however, this is the cheapest way to go (IMHO). If you spent a lot of money on your home theater, you might want something fancy like martin (post 2) suggests.
