When was your tv purchased? I work at a sony dealer and about 8-9 months ago we got three 36XBRs in straight that needed to be sent back to the factory for the problem that you are describing. The thing that really gave it away was when you put the tv on one of the video inputs with no source material playing, giving you a black screen. You could see red pinstripes running horizontally across the screen about 2 or 3 inches apart. Sony said that they had a batch that was made with an overactive red drive. Three of us at the store are ISF trained and no matter what we did we couldn't get the grey scales to look proper.
