I think I pretty much understand how a Dolby Digital receiver handles bass and LFE now. My system has a weak sub and floor speakers with 12" woofers. I have my mains set to large and all others set to small. This weekend I am going to help my brother-in-law enter the age of digital by introducing a Sony DVD player and a DD Onkyo amp. He has some serious main speakers. They are Klipsch with 2 10" woofers and a horn. He also has a good Klipsch center and surrounds. His sub is a Paradigm 10". What should I set his mains to? Large or Small? Even though the Paradigm is a good sub, I wonder if I would be better off setting his mains to Large also? I obviously will have to see which sounds better, but on paper, knowing about the hardware I have to work with, what would be the best setting?
