First, DTS isn't better. Second, DD isn't crap. Third, DTS is cranked up 4db higher than DD by your receiver. So you have to turn DD to a different volume level, big deal. Fourth, DD is mandated by the DVD Forum to be on any disc that wants to use the DVD-Video symbol. DTS is an option and not always included.
