I have a leap frog unit (RF transmitter/receiver) set with audio/video transmitted from another room to the TV in the kitchen. The source is a DirectV receiver. I would like to be able to change channels from the kitchen. After reading the manual for the DRD480RE [Link: directv.com]
I noticed that you can hookup an RF antenna.
I know that the main difference between an IR signal and a RF signal is that the IR needs a line of sight to the device. My question is will the addition of that antenna let me do what I want? The remote I am using in the kitchen is about a $50 universal learning remote (I think from Phillips) that I bought about 3 years ago. I'm almost sure that its just an IR remote. Will I need to purchase another remote?
The reason I'm asking if the set up will work is that I cannot find the RF antenna that came with DRD480RE. Any idea where I could get one?
Thanks for any help.
