RLymburner: well DVI and HDMI are the same video signal, the only difference between the 2 formats is HDMI can carry 8ch of audio as well, so there is no conversion happening, it's more like a gender change. And the the Digital signal will most likely be better quality than the Component.
DIRTE: Sorry no help on this one. What is happening is the TV doesn't refresh it's dig input to look for a signal, that may be in the setup or something, but I am not 100%
