The CAV user guide was a real pain in the Ass to write took me ages to decode those codes form just sending the controller hex commands.
i will look during the weekend as i do have the Sony Sircs Spec and there list of ID's and commands. Take a look at the CXD-2088Q devices it is an I2C chip that does all the hard work for you.
I have uploaded the datasheets to here, it decodes sony and RC5,6
