There are other PC software movie players that are available for free other than WMP, like the free DivX.
However, if you convert the VOB/MPEG to WMV, you can use
it then. Although that's a time consuming process on
most computers.
If Charlied only wants to edit the movie and then burn to DVD ( I'm assuming he does), converting an MPEG2 standard file(s) to a WMV (Window Media Video) file and then rendering it back to an MPEG2 for DVD use is a pretty big waste of energy not to mention the nose dive in quality the resulting file will likely have.
