George,
According to my definition, a Pronto template is a 'hidden' device from which a 'real' device can be created. Any device, and therefore any template, is simply a collection of panels. A single panel defines a layout of buttons and frames. You cannot change this layout on the Pronto, but instead of having a single 4 x 5 grid layout, the Pronto comes with panels in a number of different layouts. On the Pronto each button can be made visible or invisible, and assigned a label. When assigning a label you can mix 48 symbols and 96 alphanumeric characters. For example, if you want to make a 'play' button, you can either label it with the play-symbol, the letters 'play' or both. You can do all this on the Pronto without any PC software. I fail to see how this is less flexible than having a fixed 4 x 5 grid with only 24 bitmaps to choose from.
Regards,
Jan
