I recently pulled an MX-900 and an MX-880 out of storage, and I was dismayed to discover that they had both become extremely sticky on the back of the remotes. These remotes had been sitting in a box for many years, and I'm positive they weren't nearly this sticky the last time I used them. Therefore, I assume the rubbery material on the back must somehow naturally degrade over time.

After a quick Google search, I found a YouTube video that suggested using an acetone based nail polish remover. People in the comments seemed to be happy with the results, so I gave it a try. I have to say, I was very impressed with the results. It took a little elbow grease with a microfiber cloth, but all of the stickiness is now gone and the backs are nice and smooth. I highly recommend this technique.
