Well thanks to Jim for letting me know the link to jwatkins80504 very helpful strip down process help guide I've sorted my 9400, although have my 9600 as a backup for some reason I prefer the ease of one handed use the 9400 offers.

There didn't seem much gunge to clean out but the hard buttons were getting worse. If its any help to others I used a glass fibre cleaning brush and rubbing alcohol with cotton buds.

I took on your advice buzz to clean pretty much everything so no beer residue left behind and its all working a treat now, very happy.
