I got in to using URC remotes due to my experience with one of their commercial products, the MX-500.

The MX-500 lacked RF, it had to be configured using the remote, and the only means to edit or clone the setup was a hack by a 3rd party.

So what wasn't there to like about using the MX-800/850/900/etc?

Being able to use the PC editor was much easier and much more effective than setting up the remote directly. The addition of addressable RF is a great feature (even if the implementation is somewhat flawed).

Logitech took a nice stab with the Harmony, just like URC did with their future commercial remotes, but by comparison to that 10-year old technology - they're all crippled.

That's the problem, and it's sadly URC's paying customers who are punished for wanting their products, and URC's own dealer network (when it's not URC themselves) skirting their rules to supply what's been a clear and consistent demand.
