MX-3000, MX-850 and the rest of the total control line of products use to be retail line. I see your nickname is SysIntegration, I take it your an integrator? People, he is exactly the type of person you will have to pay when URC decides to change your product to dealer only supported.

Consumers, do yourself a favor and stay away from URC.

Google searches will verify what I'm saying. This web site has numerous threads about this issue. Thousand of customers lost support for the Total Control products when URC switched direction. The MX-850 is still available today but as a dealer only product. You now have to pay a dealer anytime you add a piece of equipment like an HDTV to your remote. URC and their dealers can get mad about me telling the truth, but potential buyers need to know their business practices.

The MX850 was the first URC remote I programmed way back in 2004. You can search the OEM manual off of URC website (checking its copyright date) to verify that date. The remote is 10 years old. You are lucky there is ANY support for it left.

It had a RS232 interface cable, which means some manufacturer out there like Keyspan had to make an adaptor (and subsequent windows drivers) just so you could program this remote control. Yes, I am an integrator. And yes, if you want your remote updated properly and in a professional way that can be supported in the future, then you would have to pay someone like me. You are aware that URC, an American company, operates on a for-profit basis and that this country is capitalist. This is how the exchange of goods and services operates.

I programmed my first MX3000 back in 2005. I have, literally, thousands of graphics files build for that little space ship. Guess what, they are completely useless now. Really? The mx3000??? It has a 3.8 inch 240x320 px resolution screen. Come on, brother. It's a ten year old device with a horrible screen on it. I am sorry that you probably paid $1000 back in 2005, but it's time to let go.

URC, in fact, didn't screw you at all. When they released CCP, they could have completely dropped support for the 950,850,mx3000, and stand alone MSC400. However, one can still actively download those .exe files for those editor programs. URC is spending bandwidth and storage space to host remotes that are discontinued and designed for a windows XP or pre-xp environment.

If you had the editor softwares, would you even know what to do with them?
