That's really sad, especially if he sees you for the first time in an hour and you're holding a belt.
Thirty years ago, with babies in the house, we felt the dog was too much trouble and we advertised for someone who wanted him. About two months later I stopped by the property and saw pretty much what you describe with this dog, except ours hadn't been chained. Fortunately, they were okay with giving him back. Man, did that dog stay close to us!

He chases butterflies one direction until he sees a grasshopper and then he chases it. Once in a while he comes out of the tall grass to make sure im still there and then right back in it.
