Saving Private Ryan is out!
I pre-ordered from Reel.com and got it yesterday. All the ads I've seen say it won't be out until today (11/2), but I watched it last night!
The quality looks pretty good and the surround is well-done.
I did notice some funny things, though:
1) When I first started the disc, the menu screens were all green and vertical lines ran through the whole picture. It resolved after making a selection and going back to the menu.
2) I don't remember if it was this way in the theater version, but in some scenes after the big beach assault, some of the images have a vertical blurring effect, almost like a film projector had some skipping. It was really evident in some fires in the background, and where dark and light were in close proximity. It wasn't evident in later scenes.
Now if we can convince Spielberg to release Schindler's List, Indiana Jones, etc...
