I have a Sony STR DE 595 Receiver and I am trying to figure out why it goes into protect mode when using its spdif socket. The funny thing is that using an RCA connection the receiver acts fine - no protect mode whatsoever when the volume reaches it max, but when I use its spdif socket, it begins its dolby surround decode and then goes into protect mode. When using 2 channel st on its digital connection it works fine which is really puzzling to me. Any insight into why it shorts when decoding multi channel would be of great help.
