I have heard some dealers not pleased with Qnap 409 but I dont know how valid that is.
Personally I have used e Promise NS4300 w 4*1TB disks in it for a year with no probs. The only drawback is that it cant host squeezeserver and an external PC needs 9hrs to scan my collection (which is >2TB in Flac).
Im moving the disks to the successor NS4600 which is able to run Squeezecenter.
