Way to go!!!! I have not yet setup cable guides for my system but that's exactly how I would have done it.
You may have done something similar to this already but I'll throw it out there!!!
I might even go one step farther and put all mapping in an XML document that you can install to a panel label or a library script file (.ps using System.include) or fetch from a website in the house. Then, simply use E4X to do the lookup.
