What's new for Monday August 21, 2000...
(Return to the August 2000 news index...)
New arrivals: Late last week two new remote controls arrived at my office: the Crisp Solutions UCommand 616 is a learning touchscreen remote control with 7 hard buttons, configurable LCD button size, shape and position, optional docking/recharging station and much more.

The Home Theater Master MX-1000 is the new product a lot of folks have been waiting for from Universal Remote Control, makers of the SL-9000. It features a great ergonomic design, high resolution touchscreen, 5-way joystick and 14 other hard buttons.

Both of these remotes also feature PC connectivity for computerized customization. Right now the specific units I've received are not quite the final release versions -- for instance the UCommand sample we have is unbranded, while the MX-1000 is pretty much completed except for the box and manual. I'll be looking at them both very soon.

New feature section soon: One of the reasons for my absence from the message forums for the past few days is that I've been working on programming a new feature section for Remote Central. This one was a bit bigger than I had expected, so it took longer to develop than planned. Right now I'm finishing up preliminary testing, in a few days I'll be opening it up for everyone to use (and thus beta test).

DVD review: One new DVD review for this week, the drama/sci-fi Bicentennial Man starring Robin Willians.
[Talk about DVD movies...]

Remote codes: I've added two new brand code and programming pages to the Programming Your Remote section, both for Zenith remote controls. The first is for older Allegro models, the second is for all new models including the ZEN725.
