Strengths:Really _does_ take over for all your other remotes.
Weaknesses:Expensive, steep learning curve to master.
Review:I love my Pronto. I used a SL-9000 for a long time, but always needed to have another remote or 2 handy. The Pronto really lets me put all the old remotes out of sight. Its a bit pricey, but hey, if you've got more than $5000 invested in your HT, it deserves a good remote. To really take advantage of the Pronto you also need a PC to use the editing software. If you are into programing and tweaking, the Pronto can become another hobby in and of itself!

If I could change one thing about my Pronto, it would be to put a programmable 5-way joystick on it.

Strengths:Control almost everything. Easy to use.
Weaknesses:I`ve only one remote, which couldn´t be replaced by my pronto! The SIEMENS INSTABUS remote control don`t work with that device.
Review:Generally the best remote control on the market, but from my point of view (as a dealer) I have problems to shift the costs of programming the remote to the customer.
If anybody have a question about my rating (only average) here`s my answer:
Nowadays I think the best remote should only get an average rating, to encourage the industry or technicians to do more or to improve their products. (for example: a coloured, bidirectional pronto equipped with a RF transmitter...) and I think people should be stricter on marking, because if you have a look on other product ratings, like mp3 juke boxes, there are a lot of products with excellent ratings, after you have bought such an "excellent" device you spot a lot of bugs and every electronic-software controlled-device has bugs.
And what about the rating of a remote-control which will be equipped with a bi-directional function or a coloured display in the future? You will need 6 stars because that device is better!
Nothing is perfect! Be stricter!

Strengths:COMPLETE CONTROL, SOFTWARE BASED, EASY TO USE FOR THE ELECTRONICALLY CHALLENGED.
Weaknesses:BRIGHTER IS ALWAYS BETTER. THERFORE i WISH IT WERE A LITTLE BRIGHTER
Review:I HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH THE PRONTO SINCE IT BECAME AVAILABLE. I HAVE INSTALLED THEM IN HOME THEATERS RANGING IN PRICE FROM $2000.00 TO $50,000.00. THIS IS BY FAR THE ONLY UNIVERSAL REMOTE I HAVE ENCOUNTERED THAT COMBINES THE EASE OF MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE TOUCH SCREEN CONTROL WITH A LIVABLE PRICE POINT. THE PRONTO COSTS NO MORE THAN A GOOD DVD PLAYER OR ANY OTHER QUALITY COMPONENT. I HAVE HAD CLIENTS TELL ME THAT THEY WOULD NEVER SPEND THAT MUCH MONEY ON A REMOTE CONTROL. SIX MONTHS LATER THEY CALL ME BEGGING FOR A SOLUTION TO THERE USER INTERFACE PROBLEMS. AT THIS TIME I SHOW THEM A $5000.00 PANJA VIEWPOINT SYSTEM. THEY EITHER BUY THAT OR ASK IMMEDIATELY ABOUT THE REMOTE I TOLD THEM THEY NEEDED SIX MONTHS EARLIER. I HAVE NO DOUBT THE PRONTO HAS INCREASED CUSTOMER SATISFACTION IN THE CUSTOM INSTALLATION FIELD ACROSS THE BOARD. WHEN YOU COMBINE THE FACTS THAT THE REMOTE IS COMPLETELY CUSTOMIZABLE, THROUGH THE SOFTWARE PACKAGE,THAT IT CAN BE EASILY USED BY ANYONE, AND THAT IT WORKS REALLY WELL, THERE JUST IS NOTHING ELSE AS GOOD ON THE MARKET. THIS IS SIMPLY THE BEST, MOST FORWARD THINKING PRODUCT, ON THE MARKET TODAY. I HAVE DEALT WITH MOST OF THE DOWNFALLS OF THE PRONTO (NOT MANY, AND MOSTLY FIRMWARE RELATED), AND BELIEVE THEY ARE INCONSIQUENTIAL IN THE BIG PICTURE.

Strengths:Great replacement for IR remote controls -- handles ALL functions of every remote I have -- truly universal.
Weaknesses:The display screen could be a lot brighter. It would be nice if the unit wasn't quite as wide so it could fit my hand better. A return feature in the edit software would be nice for programming jumps to common functions instead of having to duplicate them across devices.
Review:It truly has replaced all of my remotes. They have been put away, never to be used again. It has simplified the entire process of watching a DVD, recording a movie, playing Cds, etc., for both myself as well as my wife. She no longer has to get me involved to deal with the home entertainment system. The ProntoEdit software is adequate -- I have spent many, many hours programming. I was able to build an activity-based interface that handled all of my power on/off, input switching, etc. I also programmed every button/function for every remote I had (6 in total) just in case I forgot to cover something in the activities.
