I am considering the SONY RM-AX1400 and the Logitech Harmony 688, I've seen them both online for $70 and was wondering if anyone had any advice on which to get or a similar remote. I want to be able to program it on a computer with macros. Also was wondering if it is possible to have off and on commands, currently the remotes I have only have power buttons.

I would recommend getting a JP1-compatible "One For All" remote. A good example would be the URC-8910 8-device learning remote with LCD screen, which is $20 and a JP1 cable is $15.

if you go way above your budget you could get the pronto tsu-3500 for $400-$500 and its customizable to any standard you have.

Or, keeping it in moderation, URC's MX-700 or MX-850, depending on if you want RF. www.surfremote.com is an authorized dealer and has the MX-700 for $155.

You can get the discretes for power along with quite a bit of other discretes. It has a huge database of codes, many discretes, and you can learn ones that aren't in the database. You can also import configuration files. (Check this website's files section!)

There's unlimited macros.

And it's much easier to program than a Pronto. I also favor URC's because I hate touchscreens. URC has non-touchscreen LCDs.
LET'S GO BUFFALO!!!
