Would there be someone who's done a comparison of those two remotes? Or someone who would know of a side-by-side comparison of those two remotes?
I have seen the TSU-7500 / RC-9500 review on this site but wonder how the MX-3000 would compare. I've owned an RC-5200 for a few years but would like to upgrade to color.
Should I switch to an URC MX-3000 (which usually gets great reviews) or should I stick to something (somewhat) familiar to me, the RC-9500?
Has one of those two remotes got major advantages over the other?
Thanks.

The Pronto's are great. I'm a big fan of them. I've also seen the MX and it's a 2 handed remote, its very customizable as well. The MX is a great remote but it's very big. The pronto on the other hand is a one handed remote, it's very customizable and it's similar to the MX, just size differences.

Ali, thanks for the feedback. I am finding that the Canadian distributor for URC will not provide to me the software for programming and upgrades. They are keeping that for their "integrators" and they want you to consult (and pay) them. I guess URC is not in the race anymore...

Don't let the fact that you can't get the software influence your decision. The MX-3000 is just as configurable, and even has a features that the Pronto doesn't. One of the big ones is variables, which can do a lot in your configuration.
It is just as easy or easier to program than the 9500. You won't have a problem programming it.
Go with the form factor and ergonimcs that you like. Both are great remotes. Both are highly customizable.
I wouldn't just dismiss the MX-3000 out of hand because you can't get a copy of the software, which by the way can import Pronto hex codes directly, etc. etc. etc.

Thanks GregoriusM. I have heard about the variables and the "if ... then" programming possibilities but what good is that if you don't get the software to actually program it?
I agree with you that form factor is important but there are no MX-3000 in my area to get a feel for it...

Can you order from an authorized online dealer? www.bluedo.com, www.surfremote.com, and www.proremotes.com are all authorized ones and you can get the software. Go over to the URC forum...3 people from those sites are there. They're pretty good with working out prices, and you can ask them about software updates. You'll get the software from all of them, and you can ask if they choose to provide you with updates. They're really great to do buisness with.

OTAHD, I have inquired with online dealers and got good answers but having it shipped to Canada will likely be an issue (if only a $$$ issue).
However, the rep from one of the Canadian online dealers actually referred me to a local shop where I went today (Oct 28th) and saw/touched an MX-3000 for the first time!
I went to the store accompanied by the relevant authorities (!) but we are now a bit puzzled: despite all the great reviews about the MX-3000, we were not sure if we would not make the remote flip on its side if using the volume or channel hard buttons without picking it up.
What's people experience with that?
