Hi all!

I am in the consulting gig so I spend pretty much all my time on the road. Last hotel I was at had a normal tv with a normal remote so I could swap inputs to watch dvds or play games just fine. However now I am in a hotel that has one of those OnCommand systems.

It is really frustrating to me because the tv has all sorts of inputs, even component! But there is no button on the remote or the tv to change inputs.

So what I am looking for is some sort of remote to just be able to change inputs on a hotel tv with an OnCommand system. I have not tried anything yet, but I didn't know if any remote would work (maybe the hotel flat out disables input swapping so you have to watch overpriced pay per view movies). Any help or suggestions would be great. I'm looking for something small and inexpensive just so I can change inputs on these stupid hotel tvs!

I know you're probably not there anymore, but I'd like to offer a suggestion anyways.

I've been plagued by the same things. The TV's seem modded on the back with the things, so I've never been able to change the inputs. However, if you get a RF modulator, unplug the cable, and plug in the RF modulator, you can usually watch the DVD through ch. 3.

That worked, but then the next week I came back there was a plastic cover on the cable so I couldn't remove it. This is so frustrating! Anybody have any tips on how to remove these?

Which cable? The one going to the TV? Can you take it off? Is there a wall jack you could tap into?

Was it the same room? Are you a frequenter there? They probably could find out when their TV was disconnected.

If you can't get behind the cover, splicing into the cable from the wall jack would work. Or you could hack the cable in half and terminate it, but they'd be sure to notice that.
