I have a Bose lifestyle model 5 and a new Sony HD. The Bose is RF and the Sony and cable box is IR. Is there one cheap remote to control all three devices?

Thank you.

Ditch the Bose, get a real system for half the price, then use the money you make on the sale to get a remote.

Or use two remotes. :-P

Not impossible, i have done it with the Ls28 system(not sure about your system but it should be the same) When you go to the Bose system menue, it will have an option for either RF or IR. Switch this to IR and you should be able to learn the codes from the bose remote into your own universal remote.

The problem is that the original remote is only RF, it can't be learned. If the blose system has a blaster, then it would work.

It is impossible with the LS5 as it is an older model which is not the same as the LS28, so don't bother.

Later models (LS28, LS48, etc) included the ability to control IR devices from the RF remote or to be controlled from other IR remotes.

Alihashemi,

It is impossible, unless you have received FCC approval to control any RF frequency you wish. The Lifestyle 5 is RF only. Do not post if you do not know what you are talking about. People post here for help, and then they will spend countless hours wasting time on a lost cause. The Lifestyle 5 does not have any rs-232 ports on it, so it cannot even be controlled by an IR to Rs-232 converter like the one Audio Authority used to produce (C-1024). They no longer manufacture this module and it is nearly impossible to procure one, in case anyone else cares.
