If you looking for cheap universal remote, like under $20, see this thread: [Link: dbstalk.com]If need to know how to switch addresses on the tivo, which you need to do on both tivos, off of address zero, see this thread: [Link: tivocommunity.com]

Once you have the tivo set to alternate addresses, then you need a universal remote with enough learning memory to be taught commands from both tivos. Or a universal with preset codes for alternate addresses, and the philips models in the first link have codes for address 1 & 2.
Older models from One-For-All like the urc-8820, urc-10820, urc-6820, and urc-6690 have preset codes for 4 tivo addresses. If you go after those older OFA model, beforewarned that OFA replaced the 8820 & 10820 with the 8820N & 10820N, which do not have these tivo alternate address codes.
Do you have universal now, if so was is the brand and model #?

It's the 10820N so I guess I'm outa luck. I'll check out the Philips. That's an old post. Are they still avaible or are there others with two addresses?

You could teach it the commands, if its still like the original 10820 in learning memory, you could teach about 100 commands, that would cover two tivos with no problem. Just remember each tivo has to be set to different tivo address 1-9, and not left on address zero.

Sure, as long as there enough memory left, any device can be taught the tivo commands.
