I currently have a MX-3000 and it finally went on the blink. I would like to find another remote just as great as the MX-3000 BUT Mac compatible, I am tired of using Window based products and would prefer Mac capable. I looked at the Harmony 1100 but am unsure of it's functionality and graphics representation?
Please Help!!!!!!
Thank you,
Daniel S.

The best thing you can do for your mac is put win7 on it :D.

I think that Harmony might be your only option if you want to avoid windows completely. The graphics are similar to the MX-3000 but the programming is night and day. If you programmed the MX-3000 then you wont be happy with the harmony wizard. If you had someone else program the MX-3000 then you wont know what you are missing and you might actually like the wizard better.

The 3000 is fully customizable and the harmony is not. But.. the harmony does a good job of auto generating things for you. For new universal remote owners harmony is great but advanced users get used to tweaking and they cant handle the limitations.

I've done all the programming on the 3000 for myself and friends and even tweaked some of the graphics and music. I also looked at the 6000 but again it's windows. Why are makers of these controllers so afraid of Macs, or is it because windows is more readily available. I went to guijaboard.com and looks really good but back to my situation. What out there that would give me tweaking galore like the 3000 even if it is windows would you even begin to recommend!!!!!
Thank you,
Daniel S.

Well, if you are changing your original request and adding that Windows is acceptable, then why not get a new MX-3000?

No, I meant a MX-3000. You already have the software and are familiar with it. The MX-6000's software is a little different, besides the fact that it doesn't come with the remote and dealers who sell it may not want to give it to you.

I've had the 3000 for sometime now and wanted to take advantage of the fact and go better not stay the same. I saw a blurb on the Harmony 1100 on PCWorld and it sounded interesting. The part I didn't like was it was very firm on what can be programmed and what cannot be done. The MX-6000 is rather expensive but it gives you quite a bit of room to make things happen or maybe I should look at it like KISS ( keep it simple stupid), I'm getting lazy about having to in to make changes when things don't go quite right. If the software for the 6000 is close to the 3000 then I don't see a problem, I'm just not sure if I want to go thru that structure again. I appreciate your help with this!!!!
Thank you,
Daniel S.

Well, if you want something easier to program... why not lean towards a hard buttoned remote like the MX-880?
