I used to use a Pronto remote, but I went to a URC MX-810, and now I don't think I could go back to a touch screen remote. Also, the MX-810 allows relatively easy programming, and I really don't have much time to program remotes.

I'm looking for a remote for my "home theater system" (in a family room). So, I need:

1) RF control of 7+ devices (two preamps, Bluray, video processor, HT computer, lights/projector, squeezebox), preferably using IR blasters.

2) Macros per key, so that I can hit the "pause" button and have the Bluray/HT computer pause and the lights come on in one scene. Or hit the stop button and have the lights come on in a different scene.

3) Relatively easy programmability. Prefer to have most of the work done for me, if possible.

The Harmony remotes seem OK, but they don't seem to provide enough RF control of IR blasters. And some of them don't provide macros per key.

I'd love to buy another MX-810, but it seems as if URC have gone completely psychotic relative to their software. If I hadn't have retained a copy of the software, I'd not have been able to use my own remote that was quite expensive. That's simply wrong. So, URC is out.

Anyone have any recommendations? Thank you.

Unfortunately, there is really nothing else like the mx-810 on the market. The closest thing you are going to find is a Harmony and you already seem aware of some of their limitations.

URC seems quite a bit looser with the mx-810 software since they sell that remote on Amazon.

My advice would be get another mx-810 while you still can or be prepared to lose either ease of setup or functionality.
