I think the title gives y'all a decent idea of some basics.

As an instrument tech I'm not easily intimidated, but i'm not the target user here, my wife is.

So the issue is the age old UniRemote question: What make/model will satisfy the sophistications of a techy (online or Comp based programming, macros etc) and be easy enough (depending on the techy's proagramming ability) to become the go to remote for the system.

The layout of the room is pretty straight forward, everything is right there. I'm inclined to want an RF based unit because I may want to have the ability to run the receiver from another room to manage zones. I'd like a touch screen in color

As far as the equiment:

Integra DTR 8.9 Digital Theater Receiver
Panny TH-50PZ800U Plasma
Panny BMD-BD55 BlueRay Player
Sony 5 Disc CD Changer (Circa 1989) Its a solid rock
WADIA iPod Dock
Comcast Cable Box DCH 3416

I'm fine spending a bit over $200 but would like to stay iin the ball park. If this is too tall an order for that range then make the suggestion anyway.

In that price range needing a color touch screen, pc programmability and RF I would look at the Xsight Touch.

Thank you, and if I wanted to spend a bit more what would you recommend?

In reading the Xcite review here I dont think the reviewer was entirley enamoured with the Touch, but said it was a "good" unit. The pricing is right (Amazon) but I am a bit reluctuant to rely entirely on web based programming with only basic programming being made available in the event they go down or fail to support the product in the future.

The Harmony 900 is not too far out of that price range but it does not support macros.

The Nevo Q50 meets all those requirements.

The URC MX-880 has a color screen that is not a touch screen but is a pretty nice remote.

The Philips Pronto TSU9300 meets all your criteria but it is probably too far outside your price range.

With a little more information about your goals we could probably provide a better recommendation. Are you just wanting to replace all the many remotes on your table? Are you trying to automate complex tasks?

My bad, thanks for asking the questions that will help pry the info out of me

Q: Are you just wanting to replace all the many remotes on your table?

A: I'd have to say yes. She uses the Comcast remote to turn the basic TV and Cable Box on for channel changes and volume. I use the Inegra remote to control both but I find it cumbersome with respect to Cable box channel changes, i.e. whats on currently and controlling the cable box menus.

Q: Are you trying to automate complex tasks?

A: Perhaps give me an example of a complex task. I'm sure most of ours are simple but I'd like an idea of complex.

Typical Day to Day task: I like the DTR sound to be on for my TV viewing so I power up the whole receiver and cable box, she on the other hand prefers to simply power up cable box and the TV and use the internal TV speakers (thanks to Panny for decent speakers at least).
