I'm building a HTPC and was looking for a smaller remote to control it with. I stumbled upon 2 models the HP 448165-001 and HP RC2234303, they look about the same. But they both looks almost perfect size/button wise. The only problem is I can't find any info on it, except it's a few years old and came with a model of laptop HP no longer makes. I have a Veris IR receiver for my PC, but I can't find out what IR receiver HP has built into this laptops. From my understanding not all MCE remotes work with all PC IR receivers. I don't need to spend even 100 on a Harmony, too many buttons and too big. This HP one would be it for me if I knew the compatibility of it. It's over $60 the cheapest place I can find it, so I don't want to order it only to find out it won't work with anything except the HP laptop it originally came with. If it will work with my PC, but I'd need a different IR receiver I'm all ears.
I know this is a long shot, but I'm hoping somebody here has some knowledge on this remote.
Thanks
*EDIT* I ended up finding what looked like the identical remote, just a different model number (464959) for $10.50 shipped on Amazon. Not going to risk $70 for a remote that might not work with my PC. But for $10 I figured it's worth a shot. But, if anyone has info on this remote and knows I'm going to need a different IR receiver please chime in. I think I'd be better off with the official MS MCE one but I don't know.
